Michael aids in the management of initiatives at the Edmond J. Safra Center for Ethics that seek to strengthen the learning and teaching of ethics and civics. In particular, he coordinates components of Democratic Knowledge Project to internal and external partners, and manages the creation of supports for educators who teach civic and ethical content. Michael has a Masters in Learning and Teaching from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and was previously teaching high school Government, U.S. History, and English. He has taught in Malaysia as a Fulbright Scholar, Tennessee and in his home state of Michigan. He has long had a heart for the learning and teaching of "things that matter", and holds a degree in Secondary Education and Political Science from Hope College.
